Synopsis:
Rule #3: Don't stare at invisible faeries.
Aislinn has always seen faeries. Powerful and dangerous, they walk hidden in the mortal world. Aislinn fears their cruelty-especially if they learn of her Sight-and wishes she were as blind to their presence as other teens.
Rule #2: Don't speak to invisible faeries.
Now faeries are stalking her. One of them, Keenan, who is equal parts terrifying and alluring, is trying to talk to her, asking questions Aislinn is afraid to answer.
Rule #1: Don't ever attract their attention.
But it's too late. Keenan is the Summer King, who has sought his queen for nine centuries. Without her, summer itself will perish. His is determined that Aislinn will become the Summer Queen at any cost-regardless of her plans or desires.
Suddenly none of the rules that have kept Aislinn safe are working anymore, and everything is on the line: her freedom; her best friend, Seth; everything.
Faery intrigue, mortal love, and the clash of ancient rules and modern expectations swirl together in Melissa Marr's stunning twenty-first-century faery tale.
Review:
Okay, Okay,so why not a full 5? Though how great I think a book is, it's really hard for one book to keep me thinking about it. This book is well written, different and unique all at a single roll. But the factor of keeping me awake at night and keep thinking about the characters, about the world in it...it's not there.
Melissa Marr has created a whole new set of fictional characters that are not usually seen written down around YA fiction books and literature. Her version of Faeries seem to be Wicked and Lovely at the same time. And didn't I say that I really LOVE original and creative concepts? I'll give her that.
Yet, I don't really see how special Aislinn is, but surely, Seth was the one who stood out instead of her. The whole problem, the plot, it kicked me a few times while I read. I felt for the characters a few times, then all of the sudden it quite fades out. Really, the climax, I could feel the tension. But I figured a few things before I even got to read them. Though I wouldn't really count this book as predictable, still, I figure things out before I get to read them. Oh well. That's just me anyway, not other people.
Furthermore, a lot of great reviews have been circling around the YouTube book community and the bloggers from around the world as well. Wicked Lovely had bee getting full 5 stars and every review and comments or by great admiration, fan arts, "music videos", fan made "trailers" and etc.
All in all, this book is worth the read, and all the good reviews have never been wrong.
