The Awakening (Darkest Powers #2) by Kelley Armstrong

Rating: 5/5

Synopsis:
If you had met me a few weeks ago, you probably would have described me as an average teenage girl—someone normal. Now my life has changed forever and I'm as far away from normal as it gets. A living science experiment—not only can I see ghosts, but I was genetically altered by a sinister organization called the Edison Group. What does that mean? For starters, I'm a teenage necromancer whose powers are out of control; I raise the dead without even trying. Trust me, that is not a power you want to have. Ever.

Now I'm running for my life with three of my supernatural friends—a charming sorcerer, a cynical werewolf, and a disgruntled witch—and we have to find someone who can help us before the Edison Group finds us first. Or die trying.

Review:
"The Awakening" is the second installment in the "Darkest Powers Trilogy" by Kelley Armstrong. I starts from the time "The Summoning" ended.

Okay, so many have been either giving great reviews on this book, or either really bad impressions. I tell you what, I really want to be completely honest with my own review. I don't want to be a puppet of other book reviewers.

Anyway, to me, this installment had topped-off the first book--which is rare. I liked this since the action and adventure all comes to more sense compared to the first book where the protagonist tries to figure out things in the conflict. I am aware that this book was written to capture the young adult community. Most bad reviews are actually from the older, mature, adult community (but I'm not saying teens liked it. Well, technically, there are teens who despised this books too).

Since this is where we get to see them 'on-the-run' things can get even more interesting. You cannot expect how things just flip and turn right before your eyes while reading this book. The characters maintained their charisma, and for the second time around, I don't find the protagonist annoying. The concept is amazing, original and seat-jolting.

I'd really love to recommend this books to the young-adult community who likes reading.
